Tantalum Sheet and Plate Description

Tantalum sheets are rolled from thicker tantalum plates and can be further rolled into thinner strip & foil.

Tantalum is a dark blue-gray tantalum metal that is very heavy, ductile, and hard and has high corrosion resistance. It is especially resistant to chemicals at temperatures below 150°C and can only be dissolved with hydrofluoric acid. It also has have a high melting point and is able to form extremely thin and protective oxide layers for high-quality capacitors.

SSC produce high purity tantalum sheet and plate for commercial and research applications and for new proprietary technologies. Tantalum sheet and strip can be deformed very well, whether for punching, cutting, deep drawing or pressing.

At SSC, our tantalum and tantalum alloy products are also available in forms of foil, wire, rod, ribbon, pellets, powder, sputtering targets, discs, etc. We are able to fabricate the above tantalum products to your specification and drawings. Custom compositions are also available.

Most tantalum sheets and plates are produced from cast ingots for use in coating and thin film Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) processes including Thermal and Electron Beam (E-Beam) Evaporation, Low Temperature Organic Evaporation, Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Organometallic and Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) for specific applications such as fuel cells and solar energy. Materials are produced using crystallization, solid state and other ultra high purification processes such as sublimation.

Tailor-made tantalum alloy sheet and plate, such as tantalum tungsten alloy, tantalum niobium alloy are also available at SSC.
